Tu Fais Quoi

There is a wonderfully direct quality to “Tu Fais Quoi”: three everyday French words that can carry curiosity, disbelief, concern, or amused judgment depending on the delivery. The phrase translates to “What are you doing?” and works because it sounds like something a friend might say in the middle of an unfolding situation—right before a questionable choice becomes impossible to ignore.

On a soundboard, the clip can act as a quick verbal reaction rather than a full punchline. Drop it into a group call when someone takes an inexplicable route in a game, responds to the wrong message, or starts an unnecessarily chaotic plan. It also fits reaction edits, short-form videos, gaming commentary, and chat moments where a concise interruption says more than a long explanation. The French wording gives the response extra character, even for listeners who do not speak the language; the tone and context make its intent easy to read.

Its strongest use comes from timing. Played immediately after an unexpected action, “Tu Fais Quoi” turns confusion into a comic beat. Used on its own, it can sound genuinely inquisitive; placed after a dramatic pause, it becomes an affectionate callout. The phrase is short, recognizable, and flexible enough to suit everything from light teasing to mock disbelief.
