Za Warudo Toki Wo Tomare

Few anime battle cries carry the theatrical force of “Za Warudo Toki Wo Tomare.” The phrase is associated with DIO activating The World, his Stand in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and declaring that time itself has stopped. Even without visual context, the vocal delivery suggests absolute control: a sudden announcement that the action is no longer proceeding on anyone else’s terms.

The clip’s appeal comes from its combination of menace, spectacle, and deliberate melodrama. “Za Warudo” is the stylized pronunciation of “The World,” while “Toki Wo Tomare” means “Stop time,” giving the sound a clear dramatic progression from naming the power to unleashing it. That structure makes it especially effective as a punchline after someone makes an impossibly confident move, pauses a chaotic conversation, or pretends to gain an unfair advantage in a game.

On a soundboard, it can introduce a freeze-frame edit, punctuate a sudden tactical decision, or add anime-villain energy to an otherwise ordinary moment. It also works beautifully in meme videos built around delayed reactions, paused gameplay, frozen opponents, or exaggerated “wait a second” situations. The reference is strongest for JoJo fans, but the theatrical delivery communicates its joke even to listeners who simply recognize the universal fantasy of stopping time. “Za Warudo Toki Wo Tomare” is concise, quotable, and built for maximum dramatic interruption.
